Blocks

We got some blocks for Jillian to play with because I read that 6 month old babies can start stacking them....
...HA! More like she eats them. She does get some enjoyment out of knocking over towers that we stack for her though.
Guess we'll have to wait awhile for the stacking.

Party for Two

I am a bit on the antisocial side. For those of you who know me you are probably shocked but it's true, I am. I was determined today that although I am antisocial that Jillian shouldn't be and so we went to the park where a group of ladies from my ward meet once a week for a playgroup. I drove to the park because it's just too darn hot to walk so I pulled up and noticed there were no cars there. No biggie, Jillian and I could go and park it under a tree for some shade and wait for the people to arrive. I did notice that I arrived at the park later than the appointed time (by 5 minutes or so). I looked around and realized that there was not another soul at the park which is unusual since it is located right in the middle of a subdivision with lots of kids. I figured Jillian and I would just enjoy a few acres of grass to ourselves for awhile.
And we did.
After about 40 minutes Jillian started to get grumpy (it was nap time after all) so we left. Only one car pulled up the entire time we were there and no one got out. It's kinda nice to have a whole park to yourself once in awhile. Especially when you're antisocial.

Our Little Cabbage Patch Doll

Sean and I have been told multiple times that Jillian looks like a Cabbage Patch doll. I'm not sure what to think about that but I do agree she has the Cabbage Patch elbows going for her.

Look at those dimpled elbows. So cute (I know, I'm biased...)!

On a side note, Jillian loves water. Not only that, she loves to drink water from a glass. If she sees me taking a drink she immediately holds her arms out and opens her mouth, a cue for me to give her a drink. She gets pretty mad at me if I don't give her a drink. She'll drink out of a sippy cup ok but I think she prefers a glass.

Cute as Usual

Jillian loves prunes...

She is a very silly but very cute girl!

Essay Topics and rambling

I like to write and I've been out of the habit of doing it (except for a few posts on my good ol' blog here) so I was doing a search for essay topics because I find it much easier to write if I don't have to come up with something on my own. Anyway, I googled "essay topics" and the first one that popped up was this..."Persuasive Essay Topics and Original Ideas For Your Essay!" Excuse me, but if someone is telling you what to write an essay about, doesn't that make it an unoriginal idea? Maybe I don't know the meaning of the word. Upon googling the definition of original (I love google) this is what I got:

(of e.g. information) not secondhand or by way of something intermediary;
"his work is based on only original, not secondary, sources"

Ok, so I do know what original means. This definition makes the claim of "Original Ideas" false.

Thank you for reading my original essay about unoriginal essay topics. Maybe next time my topic will not be on such an original idea.

Precious Illusions

So I saw this on my cousin Melanie's blog and thought it would be funny. Little did I know that I would be posting the first curse word on my blog (please don't be offended at apparently what I want to be when I grow up!). Anyway, kinda silly but whatever...enjoy at your own risk.

1. Put your iTunes, Windows Media Player, MP3 player, etc. on shuffle.
2. For each question, press the next button to get your answer.
3. You must write that song name down no matter how silly it makes you look.
4. Title this blog what the answer to your last question is.
5. Good luck and have fun!

IF SOMEONE SAYS 'ARE YOU OKAY' YOU SAY? What's Up Lonely (Kelly Clarkson)
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF? Miss You (Dream)
WHAT DO YOU LIKE IN A GUY/GIRL? Do You Have a Little Time (Dido)
HOW DO YOU FEEL TODAY? Voice Inside My Head (Dixie Chicks)
WHAT IS YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE? Ride the Lightning (Metallica)
WHAT DO YOUR FRIENDS THINK OF YOU? Give It Up or Let Me Go (Dixie Chicks)
WHAT DO YOUR PARENTS THINK OF YOU? I Saw Him Once (Les Miserable Soundtrack)
WHAT DO YOU OFTEN THINK ABOUT? Why Do I Keep Counting (The Killers)
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE PERSON YOU LIKE? What Hurts the Most (Rascal Flatts)
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP? Jackass (Greenday)
WHAT DO YOU THINK WHEN YOU SEE THE PERSON YOU LIKE? You Give Love a Bad Name (Bon Jovi)
WHAT WILL YOU DANCE TO AT YOUR WEDDING? High (The Cure)
WHAT WILL THEY PLAY AT YOUR FUNERAL? Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue (Toby Keith)
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR? The Call of Ktulu (Metallica)
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST SECRET? Something to Sing About (Buffy the Vampire Slayer Soundtrack)
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF YOUR FRIENDS? Always on My Mind (Willie Nelson)
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO NAME THIS BLOG? Precious Illusions (Alanis Morissette)

Granted, I got some pretty good answers in this...maybe next time I have to take a quiz I'll just turn on the good ol' Media Player and get my answers from my music library. Funny story is that I hardly listen to the songs that actually popped up when I put this thing on random. I mean, I have three Coldplay albums on there and none of them popped up. I guess that's why they put a skip button on the player...

Love Sac

I was visiting my friend this weekend and she had a Love Sac http://www.lovesac.com/supersac.asp. Jillian loved it! My friend's roommate pointed out that it looked like a background at the JC Penney photography studio. I agree. Anyway, we caught Jilly being so cute on it: And then when she got tired of being cute she just leaned back and took a nap. Ah, the life of a baby!

Catching Up with Old Friends

There's nothing like your high school friends. When I get together with Melissa and Josh, two of my very best friends growing up, we have the best time. We laugh about the stupid things we did in high school and bring up memories that have long been pushed to the back of our minds. We can give each other a hard time because we don't have any secrets, there is no one to impress. We know the best and the worst of one another because we survived adolescence together. And maybe we're not as thin as we were, and maybe we've had different life experiences since high school but I feel like I'm 16 again when we all get together.

Ponytail

We found a fix for the crazy hair problem:

No, I don't mean chewing on the toes. I mean the ponytail!

Crazy Hair

Jillian's hair is getting so long so this morning I thought I'd put it in a ponytail. I didn't have any small rubber bands (actually, I did but the bands were made of latex and they just slip right out of her hair) so I used a big one and had to wrap it around her little amount of hair 6 or 7 times to get it small enough. This is what she looks like with the pony:
Before I laid her down for her nap I noticed that the ponytail was going to interfere with a comfortable head position so I took it out. When she woke up this is what I saw:

And actually I took this pictures after her second nap of the day. Her hair was still sticking straight up. My poor child! What are we going to do with her hair? I don't know but I took some video of it because the pictures just didn't do it justice. Enjoy!

Memory Game

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. Enjoy!

Sleepy

I have to be creative when it comes to what to do with Jillian while I get ready for the day. Her room is right next to the shower and it wakes her up every time so I can't shower while she's napping and I don't have a playpen for her to sit in and I can't just let her hang out on the floor since she can propel herself around and get into things I don't want her to have. Lately I 've been sitting her up in her crib and propping pillows all around her because while she can sit really well now sometimes she tips over and the crib is not the softest thing to land on (especially if she hit the bars). I give her a few toys and I usually have a good 10 minutes to do my thing before she gets bored and wants to get out. Yesterday I put her in the crib and noticed when I got out of the shower that things were very quiet. I found this when I went to check on her:

Of course, I had to take a picture. Poor kid was so tired the shower didn't even bother her! She slept like this for another hour after I took her picture.

Cuddling

The day after Jillian goes to the doctor is always a tough one for her. She usually runs a little bit of a fever and is very sleepy. The immunizations do it to her every time. Luckily I think we're done for the rest of the year with any shots. The nice thing about all of this is my usually independent 6 month old gets very cuddly, something I've missed since she was very little.

She perked up later in the day and was being very cute as usual. Don't mind my foot in the picture, I'll have to Photoshop that out later.

Darth Vader

This is Jillian being a silly girl. She's doing her best Darth Vader impression at the end (around 36 seconds in). I guess her dad's love of Star Wars is rubbing off onto her!

6 Month Check-up

Jillian had her 6 month well check today. She weighs 14 lbs 12 oz and is 25 1/4 inches long. If you recall at her 4 month check she was 14 lbs 4.5 oz and 25 inches long so not much growth. She was in the 75 % for length and the 64% for weight. This month she was in the 27% for length and 23% for weight so she's slowed way down in the growth area but the doctor didn't seem concerned and said that since her numbers were correlating that Jillian was doing well. Apparently, there can be slow down in growth around 6 months because babies are starting to be more mobile. We know all about that...

Jillian took her shots like a champ (not really, she screamed the whole time, the medical assistant took a long time to give them to her, I was not impressed, but Jilly was fine as soon as it was over) and I got this picture after the fact.
Oh, she also wanted to show off her cool Bugs Bunny band aids. What a tough cookie!

Bored

I noticed I haven't been posting much lately, a picture here and there but not really blogging. To tell you the truth I haven't done anything blog worthy as of late. Things have been pretty dull around here. I didn't even do anything exciting for the 4th of July. It's been too hot to go outside so Jilly and I stay home in the air conditioning.
On a side note, Jillian's been doing this funny smile where she scrunches up her face. This is not a great representation because she's usually smiling not looking annoyed. Her little faces crack me up!

I always try to post the cutest pictures of my little one. Here are a couple of pictures that are not the best of Jilly but still pretty cute.
