100 Interesting Things About Me

Ok, I was tagged...again...and this one seems hard but I'm going to give it a shot.

1. I was born Holly Porter, no middle name.
2. I was born in Logan, UT on September 24, 1980.
3. My mom was shocked that I had dark hair when I was born.
4. I am the oldest of 5.
5. None of my other siblings had dark hair as babies. (I guess this isn't an interesting fact about me...just go with it).
6. I have been married for 4 years.
7. I married a boy I went to high school with.
8. He was in my PE class.
9. He remembers me wrestling Melissa Phillips in said PE class.
10. I didn't talk to my husband when we were in high school.
11. In fact, if you would've told me then I was going to marry him I would've laughed at you.
12. I graduated from college unmarried (I went to BYU so I thought this was quite an accomplishment).
13. I have a daughter.
14. She is the most precious thing in my life.
15. And the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
16. Everyone thinks she looks like me when I was a baby. Of course, this is why she's adorable. I'm a little vain. She also has lots of dark hair, but it's curly (that's from her Dad).
17. I was praying so hard that I could quit my job after she was born and when the opportunity came up I almost didn't take it.
18. Sometimes I don't realize that Heavenly Father really answers our prayers (see #17).

20. Being a mom is the hardest job I've ever had.
21. It's also the most rewarding job I've ever had.
22. I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV show, not the movie).
23. And Angel (the spin off of Buffy).
24. I own both series on DVD.
25. This cost me more money then I'm willing to figure out and then admit to spending on television shows.
26. I've seen all of the Buffy series straight through 4 times.
27. I always cry at the series finale of Buffy, no matter how many times I watch it.
28. I cry at everything these days.

30. I love to read.
31. I'm currently reading the Anne of Green Gables series (again). I'm on the last book.
32. I'm annoyed that the Anne of Green Gables movies are not really like the books, mostly just the third movie. It is way off base. Nothing like anything written by L. M. Montgomery.
33. I love to play the Sims 2.
34. I was just put in the Activities Committee at church. Seems like it'll be a fun calling.
35. I was the only bride at the temple the day I got married.

37. It was the first sunny day of the year the day I got married.
38. I was 10 minutes late to my parents house on my wedding day so we could all drive to the temple and they started getting nervous that I wasn't going to show up. Sean wasn't nervous. I didn't mean to be late. It was my wedding day, I needed to look good!
39. I don't think anything I've listed is even very interesting.
40. I have very vivid dreams (see post entitled 'Dreams').
41. I remember at least one dream I had during the night every morning when I wake.
42. I forget the dream I remembered by noon.
43. Unless of course I make it a point to remember.

50. I'm losing all of my hair (it's a post baby thing for all of you who don't have kids).

72. I was devastated when my parents told me we were moving from ID to WA. If we hadn't, I would have never met my husband.
73. I usually leave the TV on when I'm home alone (or just with Jillian) just to have noise. I don't like to be alone at night when it's quiet.

98. I decided bangs aren't that bad.

100. My favorite Jelly Belly flavor is Dr. Pepper.

Alrighty, I don't know if it was interesting or not but Heather and Laura...you're it (if you're up to it)!

Dreams

My mom is always laughing at me because I have very vivid dreams and often times I remember them. Last night I was dreaming that I was in some one's workshop with a bunch of people and there was a guy there that was freaking out because there were some mice running around. I was woken up at that point by Jillian making a noise, or Sean snoring, or a UFO landing and I felt something small and soft in my hand. Now I had just been dreaming of mice so I reacted just like any not quite awake person might and I threw whatever was in my hand across the bed (and probably right onto Sean). After a few seconds I remembered that I have a terrible cold and went to bed with a Kleenex balled up in my hand because my nose has been running so much. I laughed to myself as I drifted off to sleep again, grateful that I didn't have a mouse in my hand.

Teething Update

Jillian is doing much better with the whole teething business. Thanks to those of you who were concerned. She has her moments but not whole days that are miserable. I can definitely feel a tooth coming in.

Grumpiness

Jillian has had a rough day today. She's been crying a lot, not sleeping for very long, and gets upset when I try to feed her. I think she's teething. Poor thing. Sean's in class all night so it looks like I get to enjoy her fussiness all by myself. Here's hoping tomorrow is better!

P.S. This picture is not from today. There was no way she was going to put up with me and the camera today.

Sunday

Sean and I got new callings at church today (I guess three months without one is just too much!). We were both called to the Activities Committee which sounds like it'll be a fun calling. Funny thing, Sean and I have always been called together in the ward we're in now. I'm not sure why but apparently they think we don't get to spend enough time outside of church with each other (it's true, we don't) so they put us together at church too. Works for me. Sean also got a hair cut so he's looking sharp with Jilly and her big flower:)

Tennis Anyone?

Silly Gallands

I made some flowers to put on some headbands I ordered on-line for Jillian last week and I wanted to take some pictures. And since I was in a silly mood I made Sean and Jillian help model them for me.

The things my poor husband and child have to put up with!

Hiccups

Jillian loves to talk to me. It's really funny when she tries to talk when she has the hiccups.

Too Much Tummy Tme?

I try to be good about doing tummy time. Jillian doesn't usually like it so sometimes it's short. And some days I forget (I know, I'm a bad mom!). But Monday we did tummy time three or four times.
However, this was the end result two of the times. You can tell that it's two separate times because she had a blow out and is wearing different pants (how she missed her onesie, I have no idea but she did it. It's always a surprise to see what gets covered when there is a blow out).

Poor kid. Tummy time must be exhausting. I wouldn't know. When I was a baby it was the rule to put your baby on her stomach to sleep so I imagine I looked like this 90% of the time. Don't worry, I picked her up and put her on her back to finish out her nap.

Bangs

I got a haircut yesterday, mostly just a trim and thinning out of the bulky mushroom hair that happens after not getting a haircut in 5 months (that happens when you have a baby). I did do something that I haven't done in 15 years. I got bangs. They are of the side swept variety and so not too noticeable but I have yet to tame them so they go all over and drive me a little crazy. But it's not even been 24 hours yet so we'll see how it all pans out.

Berkley Started It...

My friend Berkley has a daughter that is just younger than Jillian. She posted a picture on her blog of her daughter, Bailey wearing the cutest hat with a huge flower on it so when I saw a similar hat in a store I had to try it on Jillian. My mom and sister were with me so we took a picture of her because we thought it was too cute. I put the hat back because it was a little on the spendy side and we continued on our way. We passed the hat right before we left and my mom decided that Jillian had to have it because it matches a dress that she got for Jillian. This is the picture from the store and we will definitely post a picture of her wearing it with her blue dress. I think this was the first General Conference weekend that I was bummed that we weren't going to church so I could show off my cute baby with the huge flower on her head!

TV Fanatic

I've always been a fan of American Idol since the show first started. Sean and I would watch it together when we first started dating (little did I know he only watched it because I liked it. I found that out much later). I think I've kept up on the seasons pretty regularly except for season 2 with Ruben and Clay and I'm not sure what I was doing that year. Maybe I didn't have TV, I can't remember. Anyway, I was watching tonight and Jillian was getting sleepy so I would try to lay her down during the commercials but she would cry and arch her back and get mad so I'd pick her up and go watch some more American Idol while trying to get her to calm down enough to fall asleep. She wouldn't let me sit down so I would stand up and she would lay her head on my shoulder and watch the TV and coo at the Idol contestants. I finally gave up trying to put her to bed before Idol was over because she was fascinated. She's been fascinated by the TV for awhile and I think it's because the TV is so bright and colorful. I can usually get her attention from it by talking to her or playing with her but not tonight. I wish I caught a video of it but since I was the only one home at the time and I was holding her this was the best I could do.

What a silly little girl!

Tickle Monster

Jillian just started doing this big laugh when I tickled her today. It was so cute I had to share.

Long time no post

We made it back from our short Washington trip safely. Jillian had about enough of the car by yesterday evening and decided to let her feelings known. Too bad we were still 2 hours away! We did make it in one piece even if our ears were still ringing from the crying. Sean and I had a good time seeing family even if it was for a sad occasion. Sean's grandmother's funeral was very nice and there were a lot of people there to say goodbye to her. I guess if you've lived as long as she had you build up a lot of friends and family! Jillian was a big hit with everyone. We heard over and over how cute she was. We always knew she was adorable but it's nice when everyone else thinks so too. Saves time trying to convince people you have an adorable daughter. Sean and I even had a minute to eat at our favorite restaurant without a baby. My gracious mother babysat while we enjoyed yummy Mexican food. And she really was gracious as Jillian had the worst blow-out that she's ever had about 10 minutes after we left and Grandma was stuck cleaning it up! It was sad to go yesterday morning but it was nice to sleep in our own bed and let Jilly sleep in her crib. I am not happy about the cold weather we came back to but I hear it's supposed to warm up by the end of the week so I guess I can be patient for a couple days.
